Card Surcharges and the Total You Are Shown

The federal rule against hidden fees applies to two categories: live-event tickets and short-term lodging. For those, the total price must be disclosed clearly and more prominently than other pricing information, and excluded charges must be disclosed before the consumer consents to pay. Card surcharges elsewhere are governed by state law and payment network rules, with the general prohibition on deceptive practices reaching undisclosed mandatory fees.

Checking a Case and Asking About a Delay

A person may create a service request where a case is outside normal processing time, where a notice, card or document was not received, where an accommodation is needed, or where a typographic error requires correction. Requests are recorded and routed to the office holding the file, categorized by urgency and completed on a first-in, first-out basis, with a general resolution goal of fifteen business days. Self-service options resolve many questions without a request at all.

Checking a Mover Before You Hire One

Every interstate household goods carrier must publish its registered name and federal identification number in all advertising, in a prescribed form. That number opens the public record showing registration status, operating authority, insurance on file and safety history. Brokers hold separate registration and may only provide estimates under a written agreement adopting them as the carrier's own. A carrier must also maintain a written complaint procedure and an arbitration program.

Coaching, Training and Abuse Prevention Rules

Adults authorized to interact with minors by a national governing body or by an amateur sports organization participating in interstate or international competition must report suspected child abuse as soon as possible, defined as within twenty-four hours. Applicable organizations must limit one-to-one interactions between a minor athlete and an unrelated adult unless observable and interruptible, provide abuse prevention training, and must not retaliate against reporters.

Collateral and the Person Who Signs for You

A bail indemnity agreement makes the cosigner liable to the surety for the full bond amount if the person released fails to appear, along with costs of apprehension where the contract provides for them. Collateral is separate from the premium: it is security, must be receipted, and is returned when the bond is exonerated. Florida requires collateral to be returned within a set period after notice that the bond has been discharged, and prohibits certain forms of collateral.

Copies, Originals and Certified Copies Compared

Supporting documents are submitted in the form the form instructions require, and the ordinary requirement is a legible photocopy. The agency may request an original at any time, sets a deadline for producing it, and returns it once the adjudication is complete. An original sent when it was neither required nor requested may be destroyed. A certified copy is a copy issued and attested by the authority that holds the record, and it is not the same as a notarized photocopy.

Delivery Windows and What Delay Entitles You To

Interstate household goods carriers must provide reasonable dispatch service and must tender the shipment on the agreed delivery date or within the period stated on the bill of lading. When a delay becomes apparent the carrier must notify the shipper by a listed method, at its own expense, and record the notification. Delay is claimable under the federal claims rules, and the carrier must acknowledge a written claim within thirty days and dispose of it within one hundred and twenty.

Disputing a Charge That Keeps Coming

A consumer may stop a preauthorized electronic fund transfer by notifying the financial institution orally or in writing at least three business days before the scheduled transfer, and the institution may require written confirmation within fourteen days. Card charges run through the billing error procedure, which requires written notice within sixty days of the statement and obliges the creditor to resolve within two billing cycles and no more than ninety days.

Electronic Monitoring and Who Pays for It

Electronic monitoring is a condition of pretrial release requiring a person to remain at an approved location during set hours or to be tracked in the community. Federal programs use radio frequency, satellite location, voice recognition and mobile applications, and officers receive alerts for unauthorized absence, late return, entry into a restricted area or device tampering. Who pays varies: federal costs are borne by the judiciary, while many state and county programs charge a daily fee.

      Child Care & Camps

Excluding a Sick Child and When They May Come Back

Exclusion criteria are set by state licensing rules and public health guidance rather than by a single federal standard. The usual test is whether a child needs more care than staff can give without compromising the other children, or whether the illness is transmissible in a way exclusion would prevent. Return thresholds are typically tied to symptoms resolving rather than a fixed number of days. A child may not be excluded for a disability without an individualized direct-threat assessment.

Filing at the Right Place and What a Transfer Means

The regulation requires every benefit request to be filed in accordance with the form instructions, which means the designated address for that form, that category and that filing method. Intake operations receipt the package and route it to an office for adjudication. A case may then be transferred to a different office, which changes where inquiries go and where a response is sent, but not the receipt date already recorded.

      Pawn & Resale

      Firearms Taken in Pledge

Federal law defines a dealer in firearms to include a pawnbroker, meaning any person whose business includes receiving firearms by way of pledge as security for money. Such a shop needs a federal license and must record every receipt and disposition. Returning a pledged firearm to the pledgor is a disposition to a non-licensee, requiring a transaction record and a background check before the transfer.
